John Bercow faces calls to ‘think about his position”
He won the Chairman of House of Commons John Bercow support from across the political spectrum after he publicly spoke out against the possibility of Donald Trump addressing parliament.
Here is the statement in full:
“The speech foreign leader to each of the lower house of parliament do not have an automatic right.
It is an honor earned. Moreover, there are many precedents for state visits take place in this country that do not include address to both houses of parliament, and that’s the point the first house.
“With regard to Westminster Hall, there are three key to Hall Westminster holder.
The Chairman of the House of Commons, and the President of the House of Lords and Lord Great Chamberlain.
Usually we are able to work by consensus, and the hall will be used for the purpose, such as an address or other purpose under an agreement between the three main parties.
“I must say that the man honorable, to all those who are caught in the early movement today and for others with strong views on this issue on both sides of the controversy, that prior to the imposition of the ban migrants, I would myself have strongly opposed to the word of President Trump at Westminster Hall.
“After the ban immigrants President Trump, I am even more strongly opposed to the president’s speech Trump at Westminster Hall.
“As far as the Royal Gallery, and once again I am working for the advice, I do not probably as strong as have a say in this matter, which is in another part of the building, despite the fact that usually call for the leader’s visit to provide for the title, there will be issued in two of the names of speakers.
“I do not want to issue an invitation to the President of the Trump to speak at the Royal Show.
