Pennsylvania court has sentenced a man to 18 months in prison for breach celebrity accounts and stealing nude photos and video.
Ryan Collins, 36, pleaded guilty to the charges in May.
He had stolen user names and passwords of more than 600 people.
Collins deceive his victims – including actresses Jennifer Lawrence,
Kate Upton, Scarlett Johansson and Kirsten Dunst – by sending e-mail messages that appear to be from Google or Apple.
He accused Collins with access to the photos between 2012 and 2014, in the case known as “celebgate”.
But it was not in charge of their release.
A statement issued by the Public Prosecution:
“The investigators did not reveal any evidence linking Collins to the actual leaks or that Collins shared or uploaded to the information that has been obtained.”
Collins does not reach at least 50 accounts on 72 iCloud and Gmail accounts.
Court documents said he used a fraudulent e-mail addresses are designed to look like a security accounts of service providers,
including email@example.com, firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com.
Collins was originally charged in Los Angeles, but was sentenced in Pennsylvania, his term.
