He took Mrs. Boardman, who took part in cycling events in her youth,
to the hospital with serious injuries after a collision in Connah Quay, near and in Deeside, on Saturday.
She died later in hospital.

Player, aged 47, who won the gold medal at the Barcelona Games in 1992, tweeted a photo along with a tribute to his mother, who said he “never lost her love of the bike or competing.”
“Stealth Fighter and full of energy,
and my mother was one of those individuals who can calmly transfer anything to the competition.
“And a 10-minute walk to my Nan and she often force us to overcome – it does not feel strange at the time as it seems now – which turned inevitably to the dog contest eat dog, a woman and two children frantically speed -skipping along the sidewalk in suburbs with blue garden gate as the last beat.
“God alone knows what the past for people is like driving.”
North Wales Police have appealed for any witnesses to the collision at 13:54 GMT on the roundabout on the Mold Road, Connah Quay with the junction of Ffordd Llanarth.
