Holidaymakers have been urged to arrive at International early as the airport gets ready to handle one of its busiest days of the year.
Departing passengers must now use the E-registration ‘Smart Travel’ system,
which is compulsory, and should arrive three hours before their plane takes off.
Abu Dhabi Airports said in a statement:
“As the school holidays have now started we anticipate around 85,000 passengers will depart from Abu Dhabi International Airport this week.
“Similar numbers are expected over the Eid Holiday, with 6th, 10th and 11th July forecast to be the busiest days.
“Abu Dhabi Airports advises passengers that E-registration, for the newly launched
‘Smart Travel’ initiative at Abu Dhabi International Airport, is now compulsory.
we therefore urge all travellers to arrive to the airport at least 3 hours before their flight departure time during this busy season.
“We have set up E-registration counters in the check-in areas so that guests can register as they wait to check-in. ‘Smart Travel’ was launched in March this year to enhance the passenger experience
by decreasing processing times within the airport by up to 70%.”
